SEQUENTIAL ART

At Films Du Losangeles, we create sequential art in the form of short and feature films, television series, comic books/graphic novels, and video games. We also offer events and workshops in Los Angeles aimed at cultivating passion for cinema.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our goal is to create work that is multilingual and culturally specific, formally rooted in cinematic tradition, and set in or around Los Angeles. Through processes inspired by the French New Wave combined with modern-day technology, we yearn:

• to work with artists who share a passion for cinema

• to leverage low-budgets by exercising freedom and risk-taking

• to capture our era in Los Angeles with sincerity, simplicity, and environmental consciousness

SUBTITLES

Not only do subtitles make films accessible across language barriers, they also confer a literary quality to a largely visual medium and evoke the Nouveau Roman (“New Novel”) movement that intersected with the New Wave. As a result, subtitles often play a key role in our work.
